The Future of Martial Arts Training
I am blown away by how much Ikazuchi Dojo is doing to explore the use of technology in Martial Arts research and training. In a recent blog post, Sensei Josh Gold details their R&D process. I'm very excited to see what they come up with. I'm also hoping to do similar things at Shield.
I recently read an article about how technology will effect our society and work in the future. It lead to some deep thinking about the current use of technology in martial arts training.
So far we have video instruction and mobile apps that allow students to see and learn anywhere in the world. Students without access to a school can have Masters at their finger tips. As a homeschooling Dad, I love the concept of Flipped Classrooms. Students watch video of the the lesson, with the benefit of rewinding to spots they didn't understand. Then they can practice under the supervision of their teachers the next day at school.
